NATIONAL MUSEUM OF NATURAL HISTORY
Natural History Museum
Location - Bhairon Marg, New Delhi
Site Area - 3.2 Acres
Concept - Performative Architecture | Responsive Envelope Design
This museum design explores architecture as a living system, responsive to climate and context. Inspired by the kinetic façade of Al Bahar Towers, the building integrates a heliotropic kinetic shading system that dynamically modulates light, glare, and solar heat gain. The triangulated fiberglass modules track the sun’s path, enhancing energy efficiency and interior comfort.
A toroidal skylight and central waterfall courtyard serve as a thermal buffer, balancing interior temperature through passive cooling and daylighting. The diagrid structure supports the fluid form while integrating the kinetic components seamlessly.
Environmental simulations guided the design, optimizing the façade for sun and wind, and enabling grid-interactive smart systems for solar energy use. The result is a performative, sustainable museum rooted in nature and technology.
